2. Map Locations
Map Out Locations to Determine Obstacles
There are numerous methods to mapping locations which
include saving the points in a GPS receiver, marking them on
a paper map, downloading images and maps and then editing them,
or acquiring GIS data and creating 3-D maps in advanced programs
such as ArcView, LandCad, or Autodesk.
We recommend downloading
and installing Google Earth and utilizing its free tools. Some of these tools are available here
on the SATEL U.S.A. website. Locations
can be visually selected and marked, paths can be drawn, elevations
evaluated, distances calculated, and much more.
Designing
a network in Google Earth, is easy and network data can be saved as a KMZ file and
easily passed by email for further evaluation of the locations.
We request that exact locations are plotted on Google
Earth if possible when sites and networks are being submitted to us for assistance.
